Devolution Secretary Eugene Wamalwa arrived at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters on Thursday morning to answer questions related to the Sh21 billion dams scandal.

Mr Wamalwa arrived at the Kiambu Road headquarters at 9am.

The government admitted to paying more than Sh20 billion  to Italian firm CMC di Ravenna for the construction of Arror and Kimwawer dams, although the projects are yet to start.

Taxpayers are said to have lost Sh21 billion meant to build the dams. But the government led by Deputy President William Ruto and Treasury CS Henry Rotich have insisted that only Sh7.8 billion has been paid out as guaranteed advance payment.

The three-day grilling of CS Rotich, is reported to have brought in so much information, that the DPP’s office came out and asked the public for more time as they cast their net wider.

“I have noted the shocking magnitude of the amounts involved and the range of parties that are of interest to the investigations. This has in turn made investigations complex requiring investigators to cover a wide range of areas,” stated DPP Noordin Haji last Friday.
