How Irate residents taught top Siaya County official a life time lesson

Siaya County deputy speaker Andericus Oduor cheated death after irate residents torched a Toyota Prado that he was travelling in.

The residents acted in retaliation after the car had reportedly knocked dead a form three student at Sidok in Alego Usonga sub-county.

Oduor, together with his driver, escaped the mob narrowly while they were travelling back home to West Ugenya ward.

According to police reports, the deceased, a student at Sidok Secondary School, was hit at Siaya-Nyadorera road and her body taken to Siaya County Referral Hospital.

Confirming the incident, Siaya County Speaker George Okode expressed her remorse while hoping that the police would carry out conclusive investigations.

“It is unfortunate that a student has lost her life and our vehicles burnt.  We hope the on-going investigations by the police will reveal what happened,” Okode told The Standard.

In 2016, residents of Nyakach constituency, Kisumu County, stormed the homestead of the area Member of the National Assembly Aduma Owuor and torched his car.

Before that, the MP had earlier had his house burnt and parents murdered in a wave of attacks whose cause was not established.

“They burnt the MP’s Pajero (car) and we are yet to confirm the reasons behind the attack,” stated Kisumu County police boss Joseph Keitany at the time.

A store belonging to the MP was also burnt down by unknown assailants in the attack.

The attack came a week a teacher from the area committed suicide leaving a note behind that linked the MP to his frustrations.
