Following claims that some government officials recieved lucrative kickbacks from contactors over the Arror and Kimwarer dam scandal , DCI Boss George Kinoti called in Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS), Eugene Wamalwa, on Thursday.

DCI boss, George Kinoti, is in pursuit of the truth regarding claims that some government officials received lucrative kickbacks from contractors.

Agriculture CS, Mwangi Kinjuri, is also set to appear separately for questioning at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu road at around 10.30 a.m.

Notably, both CSs had previously served in the Ministry of Water.

Reports indicated that contractors handed out the large sums of money to top government officials in order to get the tenders for the building of the dams.

The latest interrogation of a high profile CS comes after a team led by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji reportedly visited Italy where they unearthed details regarding the dams scandal.

Despite various reports indicating that Kenyan taxpayers had lost Ksh21 billion in the latest scandal to rock the country, Deputy President (DP) Dr William Ruto and Treasury CS Henry Rotich have insisted that only Sh7.8 billion has been paid out as guaranteed advance payment.

CS Rotich was questioned extensively by DCI investigators for 4 days over the course of last week, while Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) Managing Director, David Kimosop was grilled for two days.

The three-day grilling of CS Rotich, is reported to have brought in so much information, that the DPP’s office came out and asked the public for more time as they cast their net wider.

“I have noted the shocking magnitude of the amounts involved and the range of parties that are of interest to the investigations. This has in turn made investigations complex requiring investigators to cover a wide range of areas,” stated DPP Noordin Haji last Friday.

The Arror and Kimwarer dams were being implemented through KVDA, with the National Land Commission (NLC) having gazetted 6,000 acres to be acquired for the projects.
