DPP Haji: I am an errand boy for Kenyans

Breaking silence over claims that he was serving the interests of his boss,
the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Noordin Haji has finally clarified that he’s not after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s interests but rather those of Kenyans in the ongoing war against corruption.

Haji categorically stated he was not anyone’s errand boy, not even the president, as was being alleged by a section of Kenyan politicians, but rather a servant of the people of Kenya.

The tough-talking DPP also came to the defence of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss whom he was accused of working with to frustrate Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambition in the name of fighting graft.

“I am an errand boy for Kenyans, nobody else, and I think the same goes for the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI boss George Kinoti),” he said when he appeared on Citizen TV’s JKL on Wednesday, March 13, night.

Haji further disclosed he has never received a phone call from State House instructing him how to do his job and emphasised the war against corruption was not targeting any individual or community.

“We are not targeting any individual. We have cases and evidence, and we will put it before the courts of law to decide. It is sad that we are trying to politicise and tribalise the whole issue,” he said.

Sudi who was in agreement with Murkomen and Sang went further to challenged the president to publicly declare that he was interested in a third term in office and call for plebiscite for the same to be introduced and anchored in law.

“If you have no plan to go home after your tenure ends, tell us. We will sit down, talk over it and ensure the Constitution is changed to support your re-election. However, this other game of frustrating leaders from Rift Valley is not fair and we are tired of it,” he said on March 3, 2019.
