Kilifi County strengthens efforts to revamp dairy farming

The County Government of Kilifi has committed itself in ensuring sustainable economic development through agriculture by revamping dairy farming in Kilifi.

Earlier today, the deputy governor Gideon Saburi officiated the hybrid dairy cow distribution exercise where 50 cows were issued to local farmers in Ruruma,Rabai Subcounty.

The Deputy Governor mentioned that agriculture is the backbone of economic growth in any society.

The County Government of Kilifi through the Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries is supplying farmers with free hybrid dairy cows with a milk production of 16 litres per cow in a day.

Saburi stated that this noble initiative will not only boost milk production in the county but also promote agrilculture and improve the lives of dairy farmers in Kilifi.

“Once these cows reproduce, the younger ones will be passed on to other farmers hence this will go a long way in ensuring equity and fairness in this program.’ he added

The boost of economy by this project will equally improve the living standards of the farmers.
