“You will overcome!” KoT showers Kibra MP Ken Okoth with Quick Recovery Messages

Kenyans have taken to shower Kibra MP Ken Okoth with messages of goodwill as he struggles with cancer treatment.

Okoth, one of the most trans-formative politicians of our time, shared a picture of himself on social media with the following caption:

“Napambana na hali yangu kabisa. Chemo drugs brutal on the skin and immunity system.”

And immediately after that, the second time MP started trending immediately after this with most Kenyans wishing him quick recovery:

” Dearest Ken, Our thoughts are with you as you battle with this disease. The whole of Kenya is behind you and sends you strength. You’re a fighter and I’ve no doubt that you will defeat it and emerge the victor. Be strong and courageous. ” reads a message from Kamkunji MP Yusuf Haji.

Self proclaimed boy child President Cyprian Nyakundi for ones had a positive message for his fellow boy child.

Mhesh nothing can put you down not Cancer! We got your back.

And the messages continued pouring in. Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo said he was praying for the politician.

Celebrated TV anchor Jeff Koinange will host the MP on JKLive:

And for ones bloggers we united against one common enemy; cancer

The 41 year old said in early February that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 Colorectal cancer.

“I was diagnosed with stage four colorectal cancer with metastases to the liver,” he said. This is when cancer develops from both the colon and rectum.

This diagnosis, however, was not easy to come by. For over a year, he presented symptoms of ulcers, at times bacterial infections and that is what he was being treated for.

Last year, Okoth was put through vigorous treatment that involved combined radio- and chemotherapy to avert the impending risk of organ failure. He responded well, he says, but that was just the beginning of his long-term treatment. Considering his cancer was discovered at stage four, he will have to take medication for life – a tablet each day.

This could be the reason the MP decided to draft a Bill to have marijuana – a controlled substance – legalised. It has been documented by the American Cancer Society that smoking marijuana can help relieve the nausea experienced after chemotherapy. The herb can also relieve pain.“Medical cannabis and cannabis oils are documented for being effective in pain relief and non-addictive treatment of certain symptoms and side effects. We need to empower doctors to safely prescribe medical cannabis in Kenya,”
