What Zidane’s Real Madrid return means to the Spanish and Champions League title races

After 8 months of watching the team he loves and one he has built crumble both domestically and in Europe, Zinedine Zidane is back at real Madrid. A World cup winner with France as a player back in 1998, European Champion in 2000 and a Champions League winner in which he scored the winning goal For Real Madrid in 2002, the man’s success speaks for itself.

Zizou’s first stint as Real Madrid manager could not have gone better as he won the Champions League thrice in a row( a record that will take some beating). The football was scintillating and Real Madrid fans and players were heaving the time of their lives, until the man who made of all that possible decided he had had enough and walked away.

His departure was met by sadness from the players plus a sigh of relief from the rest of Europe, his presence was becoming a nuisance to the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and more importantly Barcelona who could not live with their rivals sweeping around Europe at their expense every season.

Barcelona’s dominance of the La Liga title race might be a little too late to halt this season but the Catalans are more than assured of a tighter race next season now that the king is back!

He should never had left in the first place but it’s better late than never, Zidane is back where he belongs and sooner rather than later so will Real Madrid, watch this space!
