Top EPL manager in trouble for confronting referees

Everton boss Marco Silva has been charged by FA for alleged improper conduct.

Silva confronted match official Lee Mason at St James Park after seeing his side go down 3-2 and in his post-match press conference, Silva claimed that five Newcastle United players were offside prior to Ayoze Perez’s goal. He has until Thursday to answer to the charges.

“Marco Silva has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E3 following the Premier League game against Newcastle United on Saturday [9 March 2019) It is alleged the Everton manager’s behaviour on the field of play at the end of the fixture amounts to improper conduct. He has until 18:00 on Thursday [14 March 2019] to respond to the charge.” FA statement read.

“When they scored the third goal it was a big mistake by the assistant, nothing more to say. It was a clear offside. If you see the image it’s not just one player or two players in offside positions, there were five Newcastle players in the same line in offside positions. It was a clear offside, five players in offside positions.” Silva said then.

His charge came after Mauricio Pochettino was fined and given a two-match touchline ban for confronting Mike Dean at Turf Moore after Tottenham Hotspur lost to Burnley 2-1.
