Party leader asks prodigal daughter to be reinstated

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, on Tuesday, issued one condition for Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa to be reinstated to the ODM Party after her expulsion.

The ODM Party leader stated that Jumwa’s fate was not sealed yet and her lifeline would be facilitated by an apology.

He explained that Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori had already mend amends and the Malindi MP should follow the step to apologise for violating party rules.

Jumwa’s position in the Party has been uncertain after she publicly declared support for DP William Ruto.

Ruto had been touring the Coast region in what was observed as a move to promote his 2022 presidential bid possibly under a Jubilee Party ticket.

Jumwa and Dori expressed support for Ruto, an action that was observed as gross misconduct and a direct rebellion against the party by ODM’s National Governing Council (NGC).

The final nail in her coffin came on March 1, 2019 when the party’s NGC officially expelled her sparing Dori of the same fate.

ODM cited that it considered the letter of apology by Dori in its decision on whether or not to expel the legislator.

Over the weekend, Ruto faulted the party for their decision to expel Jumwa terming it an exercise to frustrate the MP.

”Many men have said the things that Jumwa is being penalized for. However, the party has taken no action against them. They are running out of ideas.

“They said that they want to use her as an example. If you are man enough, why have you not taken action against men who have said the same things?” Ruto posed.
