Man United Tie upcoming midfielder to a new deal

Andreas Pereira’s contract has been extended for a further 12 months as such clause was inserted in his contract, report Evening Standard. Thus, the 23-year-old and the club will have more time to decide what next for the Brazilian midfielder.

Pereira was heading for an exit on a free this summer but United were not willing to let this happen. The club might even try to cash in on the player. It is not specified in James Robson’s report whether Pereira will definitely be offered a new deal or not.

Andreas has only recently started to showing his worth. An injury crisis forced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer into using the 23-year-old who didn’t disappoint. He scored a magnificent goal against Southampton (3-2) win and played 80 minutes in the Champions League comeback against Paris Saint-Germain (3-1).

His position at United was never certain but Solskjaer may have found it as he said: ”He (Andreas) has gone through the academy, he has loads of energy and drive. Maybe we found a better position for him. He is more of a No8 or 10 than a six. Young kids when they get criticism, there is nothing better than seeing them grab their chance.”
