The fate of Aisha Jumwa now has been left on the court after she declined to face the ODM party’s disciplinary committee which had kicked her out.

Addressing journalists outside parliament, Aisha Jumwa said she will not bend her knees on anyone neither appear before the party to ask for forgiveness, asking Mr. Odinga to refer to the records on her stand.

“I have heard Raila Odinga saying that if I appear before the party they will forgive me… I want to tell him that what I told them before the National Executive Council that remains my position. Let them go back to the records,” said Jumwa.

Nicknamed the iron lady, Jumwa argued that they only appeared before one member of the committee – Fred Othuok – despite a provision in ODM’s constitution expressly providing for a five-member Disciplinary Committee appointed by the National Executive Committee.

Jumwa says she was surprised by Odinga’s statement asking her to ask for forgiveness, yet he was present when the decision was read out to pardon Dori and expel her.

ODM’s disciplinary committee recommended the expulsion of Jumwa and Dori for openly supporting Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential ambitions.

The party’s National Governing Council (NGC), however, reconsidered the decision to kick out Dori after he apparently apologised to the party.

“Having received a letter of apology from Hon. Suleiman Dori, the members resolved to defer their decision,” said ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on March 1.

AIsha wants the court to quash the decision over disregard for the law, corruption and double standards, where her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori is concerned.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator has rebuked ODM’s Secretary General Edwin Sifuna assertions that Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori do not merit any legal counsel with Murkomen quoting the constitution that the two have the full rights to seek legal service.

Sifuna had told off Murkomen to stay away noting that the case was a purely an internal party affair hence his interest for offering legal service to the duo was unwarranted
