Horror as Kericho Man burns his father beyond recognition over a piece of land

Police in Kericho county are investigating an incident in which a 70 year old man was burned beyond recognition allegedly by his son.

James Siango was burned in his house in Lemayat village Kipkelion East constituency, after he refused to share his three acre piece of land with his son Benard Kiprono.

Residents claim that the young man locked his father in their timber house and set it ablaze. The fire was so intense that neighbors could not save him.

“We suspect that the young man must have killed his father before setting the house on fire because since as it was burning, the deceased did not make any noise calling for help,” a neighbor said.

Neighbors also claim that the son, who has since gone into hiding, could have been salivating over his father’s green cabbages that were bound to bring a fortune in the midst of the scorching sun.

Kericho County Police Commander James Mugera, said that when police rushed to the scene, they found that the house had been razed to the ground the owner burned beyond recognition.

“The suspect was with his father before the incident but was missing from the homestead when the police got there. Efforts to trace him were fruitless,” he said
