Leaders are creating quite an impression following the rampant quitting of County Cabinet members in various ministries.
First it was Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s Education CEC,then it was Governor Alfred Mutua’s tourism CEC and now its Governor Cornel Rasanga.
A Cabinet Member in Siaya County finally called it quits after clashing with the area Governor, Cornel Rasanga.
Confirming receiving a resignation letter from the troubled CECM, Rasanga told journalists that Warega had opted to resign rather than face accountability issues.
He had, on numerous occasions, been summoned by the county’s MCAs over misuse of funds under his docket. He was reportedly fined Ksh 200,000 for missing one of the meetings in November 2018.
“I have received the letter from the finance head. He opted to resign rather than confront accountability issues we had raised with his office,” stated Rasanga.
Before ascending to the CEC position, Warega worked as the County’s Director of Finance since 2014.
In January 2018, he, however, had to persevere a grilling that linked him to the infamous Ksh 283 million 2008 cemetery land scandal that rocked the State during his tenure as the Chief Accountant in the Ministry of Local Government in the office of Deputy Prime Minister.
Do you think Warega has acted like a coward?
