Zamalek hammers Gor Mahia in touch CAF Confederation Cup


Gor Mahia failed to return to winning ways in the Caf Confederation Cup against Zamalek

K’ Ogalo hopes of bouncing back to winning ways in the CAF Confederation Cup were dented on Sunday, March 10, after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Egypt’s Zamalek in Alexandria.

The Kenya Premier League side controversially lost 1-0 to Hussein Dey in their reverse fixture against the Algerian side last weekend.

K’Ogalo were therefore in desperate need for victory in their matchday five of six in a bid to get their continental campaign back on track.

However, the Hassan Oktay-tutored side failed in their mission, with two first half goals from Mahmoud Alaa and Youseff Obama condemning them to a comprehensive defeat

. Alaa opened the scoring for the hosts in the 12th minute, before Obama doubling the lead in the 26th minute, with the first half finishing 2-0.

In the second half Zamalek continued dominating the encounter, with their efforts paying off in dying minutes with two quick goals from Ferjani Sassi and Omar El Said condemning Gor Mahia to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat. Meanwhile, Zamalek’s comfortable victory saw them go top of Group D with eight points in a tightly contested group.

K’Ogalo, on the other hand dropped to bottom of the group and will be seeking to convincingly defeat Petro de Luanda in Nairobi for a chance to seal a spot in the next round of the competition.
