How a daring man kidnapped an EACC officer to earn ksh 2M

The current Kenya’s economy and the employment status of many people in the country has been threatening various criminal activities. Could you imagine that someone can kidnap an anti-graft agency officer just to demand a ransom? Well, it dawned on a 37-year-old man Sunday when DCI detectives landed on him after he had kidnapped an EACC employee and demanded a ransom of Ksh 2 million.

He is set to be arraigned in court on Monday (today) for allegedly kidnapping the officer.

The suspect; Shaban Wangatia Otinda, was arrested on Sunday in Kitengela, Nairobi, following a trap laid by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

According to the DCI, the suspect, who is set to be charged with abduction, was nabbed while waiting to receive the money.

Meanwhile, the victim has since been rescued.

β€œThe victim was found safe and rescued; the suspect will be arraigned in court today (Monday),” said the DCI.
