Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has come out in defence of Deputy President William Ruto over allegations that himself and his cronies took part in the latest saga.

This comes at a time when politicians allied to the opposition have been blaming Ruto and team for the Arror and Kimwarer dam scandals where about Sh 21 billion was reportedly lost.

But speaking in Likuyani in Kakamega on Sunday, the close ally of Ruto defended the DP, adding that no money has been lost in the said scandal in the first place.

He claimed that the only money that has been paid has been paid to insurance companies set to cover the mega projects, and not even a single of the DP’s companies is involved.

“Let the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party and its leader Raila Odinga know that Ruto is not a beneficiary of these projects and is not even involved in the same,” he said.

He added that only two insurance companies have been paid, linking the two to former Cabinet Ministers John Michuki and Charles Njonjo.

“The insurance companies that have been paid are owned one by John Michuki and the other by Charles Njonjo. And they have received billions of shillings,” he revealed.

This comes at a time when the scandal continues to dominate the political arena, as Ruto and Raila exchange words over who is to blame for the loss of public coffers.
