Arsenal Star Aaron Ramsey Reveals Which Gunners Player Was ‘IN BITS’ Before Man Utd Clash

Arsenal took the lead through Granit Xhaka before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s penalty gave the Gunners a comfortable lead.

David de Gea was criticised by pundits and fans after failing to stop Xhaka’s long-range strike, and the foul by Fred on Alexandre Lacazette for the second goal was also widely debated.

Despite the awarding of the penalty, it was unclear if Aubameyang would take it after Hugo Lloris saved his last effort from 12-yards against Tottenham last week.

The 29-year-old promptly banished that memory by slotting past De Gea with aplomb, but according to Ramsey – the Gabon forward was not feeling his best before the clash.

“It took a lot of courage for him to do that but he is a confident guy,” Ramsey told Sky Sports.

“He was in bits after the last game after he missed the penalty.”

Aubameyang stepped up at Wembley last week after being fouled in the box my Davinson Sanchez and could’ve sealed a memorable win at over their north London rivals.

His effort was easily saved by Lloris, but his follow up was cleared in controversial circumstances by Jan Vertonghen.

Ramsey continued: ”He showed great character today to step up and slot that one away so calmly. The boys are buzzing for him and we are delighted to have come away with the win.

“We have had a new manager come in with new ideas and it has been a season of trying to adapt to certain things that he wants from us.”

Juventus-bound Ramsey has already agreed a deal to leave Arsenal, but gave fans an added boost after their impressive victory by claiming that Unai Emery is still working hard to improve the side.

“We have had a new manager come in with new ideas and it has been a season of trying to adapt to certain things that he wants from us,” he said.

“Sometimes it has come off and sometimes it hasn’t – it is a working process.

“I am just happy we won the game and we have put ourselves in a great position to finish off the season and hopefully nick a top-four spot.”

Pundit Gary Neville picked out Arsenal’s front two of Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette as the crucial players in the win over his former club, as they look to secure Champions League football for next season.

Next up for the Gunners is their Europa League clash with Rennes as they look to wipe out a 3-1 aggregate deficit.
