GrandPa Records CEO Refigah trashed Play Kenyan Music Campaign during an interview on Wasafi Media.

Refigah said that Play Kenyan music is based on personal opinions of the musicians and he did not agree with it because he believes that music is a business.

He also added that since music is a business, people cannot force others to listen to what they do not want.

Refigah maintains that even if all media stations decide not to play Tanzanian or Nigerian music, people would still listen to that music through other platforms.

He also added that if there is a demand then there is not much that people can do to. The only thing musicians can do he says is that they can borrow the strategies that are used by artists who are doing well in the industry and have a purpose to do better.

He also termed the campaign as a small and cheap talk and added that the Tanzanian artists have supported Grandpa records music so much that he feels he would be a hypocrite if he says that Tanzanian music should not be played in Kenya.

Kenyan artists during the campaign had however clarified that their agenda is not to lock out International music but to have Kenyan music get the support it deserves.
