Who is the Real Face of Impunity, Ruto or Raila: This & Much More in Your Daily Dose of Top Political Stories

The war of words pitting Deputy President William Ruto and Opposition Chief Raila Odinga keeps getting ugly as the days go by.

Just a day after Raila hit out at DP William Ruto for trying to provide a breading ground for corruption, Ruto has come out Guns blazing towards Raila Odinga and has referred to him as the real face of impuntity.

This brings us to the question:

WHO IS THE REAL FACE OF IMPUNITY BETWEEN RUTO AND RAILA?

Deputy President William Ruto believes that Raila Odinga is out to politicize the war on corruption.

Ruto has further made sensational claims that Raila is indeed the Real face of impunity and a proved Political fraud whose words should not be taken seriously.

He said Raila is a notorious propagandist and incorrigible liar who can’t even remember the last lie he told.

He said Raila has neither the legitimacy nor integrity to lecture anyone on matters corruption or integrity.

“Yes, I have an interest in the construction of the dams, a major interest because with [President] Uhuru Kenyatta we put 57 dams to be constructed over the next five years,” Ruto said.

He went on, “As the deputy president of the Republic of Kenya, I would be reckless and would have failed in my job if I didn’t follow the numbers.

“So, the question that I’m being asked is like a hyena asking a herdsman ‘what is your interest in your herd and why do you know the number of the livestock that you are keeping?” Ruto said.

He spoke on Thursday when closing the 6th Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga county.

While speaking at the same summit on Wednesday, Raila questioned how the DP knew that only Sh7 billion was reportedly lost in the project and not Sh21 billion as reported.

He said the DP had no reason to be defensive if he knew he had nothing to do with the alleged disappearance of the funds.

Raila said those rushing to defend corruption were scuttling the ongoing war on corruption.

Wel, Who is the liar here? Is there something these two are hiding from Kenyans?

MUDAVADI MAKES MAJOR PLEA TO UHURU WITH REGARDS TO CORRUPTION

ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi wants President Uhuru Kenyatta to freeze all dealings involving public assets until public confidence is restored.

He said public confidence in the Jubilee administration’s ability to manage public finance and assets is shaken and can no longer be trusted.

“These past few days alone, Kenyans have been treated to mutually contradictory official explanations of what could be happening to their finances with regard to purported procurement to construct dams across the country,” Mudavadi said.

It is alleged Sh21 billion has been misappropriated in the projects. Deputy President William Ruto termed the alleged loss a flat lie saying only Sh7 billion was paid out.

The Jubilee administration, he said, can no longer be trusted.

“The only assignment left for Uhuru is a frontal war against the grand larceny in his government,” Mudavadi said.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati on Thursday accused a Parliamentary committee of ignoring the commission’s submission while compiling its report.

Speaking to journalists after submitting their proposals to the Building Bridges Initiative Task Force at KICC, Chebukati said the Public Accounts Committee did not factor their submissions – both oral and written – in the report due for debate Thursday afternoon.

The committee is chaired by Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi.

“We have seen the report of PAC and most of the information we gave has not been used in arriving at the recommendations and so we do not know what happened for PAC to ignore our submissions,” Chebukati said.

He added: “But the matter is before the floor of the House and we shall get the House to discuss it. I believe in Parliament there are men and women who will be able to see through the report.”

The committee recommended that Chebukati and commissioners Boya Molu and Abdi Guliye be kicked out of office.

INSIDE RAILA’S NEW PLANS TO DEAL WITH ELECTORAL MALPRACTICES AND LEADERSHIP WRANGLES IN KENYA

Raila Odinga has said he will continue to push for the reintroduction of a parliamentary system.

He said the system is the best for it will introduce checks and balances in government.

The ODM party leader said presidential system has created a strongman syndrome in most African countries including Kenya.

This, he said, has turned elections into a do or die affair leading to bloody confrontations every five years.

“It has been nine years since we had this Constitution. It’s now time for us to change where we have a problem and if we don’t do it now we will have problems in the future,” Raila said.

It is his view that the electoral process in a parliamentary system will not generate the same bitterness and tension when the fight is for the position of the President.

The Opposition chief spoke on Thursday morning during an interview on Kameme FM.
