Taxify goes for a facelift, changes name to Bolt

Vehicle-sharing service, Taxify on Thursday launched its revamp, through a change of name.

The new name, Bolt, according to the company represents a fast, effortless movement that it seeks to offer to its customers.

According to the multinational company’s CEO and co-founder Markus Villig, the name taxify, “was too restrictive”.

“We are bullish that the future is fully electric and so we wanted a name that moved us away from the combustion engine,” said Villig.

A report by Techcrunch reveals that the Estonian-based company is removing “taxi” from its name and rebranding as Bolt, the same name that it has been using for its new electric scooter service, to double down on providing multiple transportation options beyond private cars.
