A middle aged man has gone into hiding after allegedly slashing his secret lover.
The incident happened in Magwagwa in Nyamira North, Nyamira County.
Locals said Patrick Ooga armed with a machete attacked Divinah Nyaboke while she was returning from the market.
“Ooga tried to lure Nyaboke into a local bush for sex but, Nyaboke refused saying it was late. Angered Ooga attacked her with a panga accusing her of turning down his proposal to sleep with him despite them being in a relationship for the last one year,” said Risper Nyakara.
Ms Nyakara said Ooga a father of one has been having other women outside the wedlock because his wife lives in Bomet where she is a teacher.
“Ooga has been living at home with their 6-year-old son. Efforts by locals to ask him stop chasing other women have not given fruits,” she noted.
Fred Obae area chief said the victim was rushed to Nyamira hospital for treatment.
“Nyaboke’s face was disfigured following the panga cuts. She is fighting for her life in hospital,” he said.
He assured that the suspect is being hunted down.
According to the chief Nyaboke separated with her husband three years ago and she has been living in a rented house in the area.
