But Where Was PSG’s Angel Di Maria During PSG Defeat?

ESPN pundit Craig Burley ripped into the star after his poor performance in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 defeat to United.

PSG crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday despite having a 2-0 lead from the first leg.

Di Maria shone at Old Trafford, assisting Kylian Mbappe’s goal at his former stomping ground.

But he was near invisible in the second leg, and was given a rating of 5/10 by ESPN for his performance, having no impact as United overturned the deficit.

It was his second time playing against United after he left the club in 2015.

The Argentine, who joined from Real Madrid, suffered a torrid single season at Old Trafford under Louis van Gaal before requesting a move to the Parisians.

And Burley tore into the winger for his poor performance, and branded him a bottler.

“There’s another bottle job, Di Maria,” he said.

“He swans around Ligue 1, didn’t have the stomach for the Man United gig and the Premier League.

“That’s because Man United were struggling at the time, and as a big player when you go to your club and they’re struggling, you have to roll your sleeves up even more and show your quality.

“And he couldn’t wait to get out of there.

“He goes to Ligue 1 and he’s swanning around and showing off the talent that we all know he’s got.

“They’re 17 points clear with a game in hand, so effectively 20.

“But when him and his mates are needed on a big night against a poor Man United side, they couldn’t do it.

“Why the hell are they writing cheques for this club? For what, to win Ligue 1? Because there’s no sign of them winning the Champions League. No sign whatsoever.”
