Why ‘Kele Kele’ songstress Tiwa refutes claims of leaving Mavin records

Great things have been happening for Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage. Born Tiwatope Savage on the 5th of February 1980, better known by her stage name Tiwa Savage, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, performer and actress. The ‘Eminado’ singer is currently in a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, she has a recording contract with Mavin Records in 2012 and also signed a management and publishing deal with Roc Nation in June 2016.

She has recently raised speculations that she has left the home of her music career since she made it into the limelight, Mavin Records. Last month she sent out a number of tweets explaining her need for a break and also subtly announcing her exciting new endorsement deal with a popular alcoholic brand. Popularly known as the ‘African Beyonce’ has also been teasing that she has something coming, with her fans speculating that it is some new music or a new project that will see the rebirth of the singer and signify her comeback to music.

Taking to her Instastories, the mother of one has however debunked rumors on Nigerian blogs that she has left the Don Jazzy headed stable for another one stating that they are not true. The ‘Keys to the City’ hitmaker has been relatively quiet on social media and has not posted on her Instagram timeline since December and also deleted all her photos from the photo-sharing site apart from three.

Popular afro-pop music singer, Ajibola Olumuyiwa Danladi, aka Danny Young, recently filed an N200 million lawsuit against Tiwa Savage and Mavins Records for alleged copyright infringement. The singer decided to take legal action against Tiwa and her record label, Mavin for allegedly unlawfully using lyrics of his 2009 hit single, ‘Oju Ti Won’, in her latest song titled ‘One’ that was released two months ago.
