As they try to achieve normalcy at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, KAA has reiterated to their earlier advice to the travelling public to get in touch with their respective airlines and travel agents for confirmation of their travel arrangements.

On Wednesday, customers were left stranded at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as the workers are reported to have downed their tools from midnight.

This announcement by KAA comes hours after the Transport CS James Macharia termed the strike as illegal and had demanded that operations should resume within an hour.

Transport CS James Macharia says that a couple weeks ago, he met with the KAWU members who agreed to lift the strike after they were given the government’s assurance.

Macharia says that  what they fear is that the  proposed KAA-KQ merger will result in job losses.

With this announcement by the Kenya Airport Authority, they assure that the situation is under control and they will soon be officially back to normal business.

Jambo! We wish to inform the public that flight operations at JKIA are steadily normalizing. All scheduled arrivals have been processed & the backlog of departures arising from this morning’s disruptions have been substantively cleared. 1/2— Kenya Airports (@KenyaAirports) March 6, 2019
