Is THIS The Text Message That Shows Man Utd Have A Major Problem Over Ole Gunnar?

Manchester United boss Solskjaer is currently at Old Trafford on loan from FC Molde, who he left temporarily back in December.

The 46-year-old wants the Red Devils job on a permanent basis, however, and has done little to hide his feelings on the matter.

Ahead of Manchester United’s crunch Champions League second leg showdown with PSG at the Pard des Princes, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claimed that he did not have a Molde contract.

“I’m not quite sure how it works,” he said when asked about his contract and why his Twitter bio still read ‘Manager of Molde.’

“I think the contract has expired and that now I only have contract with Manchester United.

“There may have to be another contract for that [return to Molde].

“Let’s see what it says here. No, I am…’manager of Molde’- It’s not what I am doing at the moment, but the plan is to go back there.”

But this is where things get a little bit strange.

Molde CEO Oysterin Neerland has taken the unprecedented step of appearing to send a text message into TV2, insisting that Solskjaer DOES still have a contract.

“Before Christmas we signed a new agreement with Ole Gunnar for three new years,” Neerland said.

“Afterwards Ole Gunner has taken over as temporary manager at Manchester United, a job that goes on until summer.

“Ole Gunnar is now employed at Manchester United, and plans to return to Molde after the season.”

There appears to be conflicting messages on the matter.

It seems unprecedented that a man as intelligent as Solskjaer would forget that he has a contract.

And the fact that Neerland has chosen to TEXT about the matter to clarify it suggests there may be a lack of communication.

If Solskjaer does still have a Molde contract that will mean United having to negotiate with them.

And it could cost as much as £8million to make the Norwegian their next permanent boss.

But, should he not have a contract, that would make any potential appointment a lot smoother.

Reports have suggested Solskjaer has already ‘shaken hands’ with Ed Woodward about taking charge long-term.

Yet it has also been claimed United are reluctant to announce anything before the end of the season.

Therefore, could something have been agreed? Could that be why both men are sending out mixed signals?

United are also understood to have Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino under consideration.

Yet Tottenham are likely to demand a massive £34m to part company with the Argentine.

One thing’s for sure. The world’s biggest club won’t be too happy that negotiations could be complicated by a text message sent to a TV broadcaster by another club’s director.
