Everton wonderkid Anthony Gordon has signed his first professional contract after an impressive spell with the club’s academy setup.

The England youth international has put pen-to-paper on a deal until June 2023 having been previously linked with a potential move to the Bundesliga.

German side Borussia Dortmund were credited with an interest in the starlet in November 2018, but Marco Silva made clear he wanted to keep the attacking midfielder at Finch Farm.

The Everton boss said at the time: “He’s a talent. He’s a player we want to keep, of course. It is our goal to keep our best players, not only the players playing in the first-team.

“If we want to grow and achieve something important we need to keep our best players.

“We are here to look to the young players and to work with them and improve.”

Gordon became the first 21st century-born player to make a senior appearance for the club when he came off the bench in December 2017’s 3-0 win away to Apollon Limassol.

Since then, the 18-year-old has been impressive in both the U18s and David Unsworth’s U23s setup – helping the latter climb to the top of the Premier League 2 table.

This season also saw the youngster come off the bench against Gor Mahia in November as the Blues romped to a 4-0 win.
