The former Spurs midfielder believes London rivals Chelsea are the model for his old club to follow moving forward.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have earned plenty of plaudits for their football and progress under the Argentinian.

But a lack of end product in their trophy hunt has consistently left questions surrounding the club’s credentials.

There is a fear star players won’t stick around forever if third-placed Tottenham cannot claim some medals.
Fans of the north London outfit are desperate for some silverware, and it would certainly lift a burden off Pochettino.

Spurs have often been labelled by rival fans as ‘bottle jobs’, with others always expecting they will fall short when it matters most.

But Jenas rejects that notion in the present day as Tottenham prepare for their Champions League round of 16 second leg away to Borussia Dortmund this evening (8pm), going into the clash with a 3-0 lead on aggregate.

The BT Sport pundit told Starsport: “I don’t associate that word with this group of players and this club. I think one of the greatest things this manager has actually done is flip that on its head.

“Spurs have focused in those big moments on playing the perfect game” Jermaine Jenas

“The club that I was that was, I’ve said before, it was ok to lose at times. There wasn’t that feeling that I suppose you have at Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, where there is a demand for trophies year in, year out.

“That wasn’t present within the football club that I walked into, it was about good football, entertaining, and I think within that you lose a little bit of, I wouldn’t say professionalism, but every now and again you’ve got to chuck in a few horrible performances to get the job done.

“Over the years, Chelsea have probably been the best team at doing that, actually just in the big moments finding that big performance even though they didn’t play well to win a trophy.

“I think Spurs have focused in those big moments on playing the perfect game and it’s let them down on too many occasions.
