Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has declared war on
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party after the Political and Disputes Tribunal reprieved her today pending an inter-party appeal hearing on Friday, March 8.
Jumwa’s expulsion from ODM was ratified by ODM’s delegates during the party’s National Governing Council (NGC) meeting held on Friday, March 1.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who had filed an appeal disputing the expulsion of the Malindi legislator and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori confirmed the development.
“Today we got the interim orders restraining ODM and registrar of political parties from effecting any decision on the purported expulsion of Aisha Jumwa. Let justice roll on like a river,” tweeted Murkomen on Monday, March 4.
Here is her response;
The tribunal ordered ODM and Jumwa to appear before it on Friday, March 8, for a hearing of their dispute before any decision is made. The two MPs had been accused of disloyalty to the party and gross misconduct but Dori was pardoned after tendering in an apology letter.
The Malindi legislator raised concern that the party had unconstitutionally pushed her out through a biased decision making process. “I want to know which law was used to expel me and pardon my colleague Dori. Which is this new law established between February and Friday, March 1 that allowed my colleague to apologise but not me,” she said. Jumwa accused ODM of being a corrupt party saying Secretary General Edwin Sifuna of being biased.
