Missed Hat trick bust-up!! Why Lukaku and Pogba engaged in a sprawl after their win against Southampton

Manchester United team-mates Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku were reportedly involved in a brawl after the Red Devils’ win over Southampton this weekend.

Both players were involved in big moments from the match at Old Trafford with Belgium international Lukaku netting a brace in the 3-2 victory.

World Cup winner Pogba’s involvement was a little less impressive, with the Frenchman failing to take advantage from the penalty spot late on in the fixture.

Fortunately for United, the missed opportunity had little effect on the final result as the Red Devils held out to win and subsequently leapfrogged Arsenal whom they meet in their next Premier match to move back into fourth place.

But it did allegedly spark a dressing room row between Lukaku and Pogba, according to The Sun.The paper is reporting that Lukaku was disappointed that Pogba took the penalty against the Saints as he was on a hat-trick at the time.

The Belgian reportedly reminded Pogba that he supported him during the difficult Jose Mourinho period. He also allegedly told him that had the roles been reversed he would have let him take the penalty to complete his hat-trick.

But Pogba went ahead and took the spot kick none the less because he is United’s designated penalty taker.Ole Gunnar Solskjaer eventually had to calm the duo down as the row waged on, the report adds.

A Red Devils source told the paper: “It was quite a heated conversation and Romelu was clearly not happy about what Pogba had done.

“He was quick to remind Paul how much he had helped him when he fell out with Mourinho. “It needed Ole to calm the situation down.”

Pogba and Lukaku are known for being good friends, with the Frenchman even playing a part in United landing the Belgian from Everton.

The pair were on holiday together when the official announcement that the £75million transfer had gone through and celebrated by dancing in a video posted to Pogba’s Instagram page.
