Barely a few months after JKUAT students protested against killings in Juja at their school and vicinities, a student at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology was stabbed by assailants at the High Point area in Juja, Kiambu County.

The student identified as Shawn was reportedly assaulted while walking with his girlfriend at around 5:30pm. It was the girlfriend who alerted local residents of the robbery through her screams.

Reports stated that there were two attackers and that one of them slipped away once the local residents got a hold of his partner.

A JKUAT student speaking to Kenyans.co.ke affirmed that the irate mob beat up and burned one of the robbers to death.

The young student was taken to Thika Level 5 Hospital where he is reported to be receiving treatment.

Shawn’s stabbing comes barely a month since Tabitha Muthoni, a JKUAT student was assaulted and killed within the same area, close to Sea Gull restaurant.

Ms Muthoni was reportedly walking with a friend when they were confronted by thugs armed with knives and ordered to surrender their mobile phones.

The slain student reportedly refused to comply leading to the robbers stabbing her in the neck before fleeing.

She was rushed to hospital but was declared dead from excessive bleeding.

Students at the university have been calling on the police to check on the surge in reports of violent crimes within the area.
