ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi who is also the opposition leader jumped to the rescue of Residents of Lamu.
Musalia Mudavadi who was accompanied by Lamu leaders including the former Governor Issa Timamy who is the victim have condemned how “Orders from above” are used to terrorize residents of Lamu.
Musalia Mudavadi have questioned how the police brutally unleash their wrath to innocent people in the name of implementing orders.
This follows the police disruption of the former Governor Issa Timamy planned Thanks Giving occasions which were disrupted by the police using force and canons of teargas.
Mpeketoni station commander, Thomas Odenyo, claimed the meeting was not authorized. However, Timamy refuted this, saying he had informed the police about the meeting in advance and in writing.
Earlier, police had been placed at strategic points to stop the former governor from getting to Mpeketoni. But Timamy managed to get to town before his meeting was disrupted.
The incidence left a number of people facing breathing difficulties, including the former governor on whose feet some of the teargas canisters went off. A number of residents criticized the police action claiming that it was a violation of the constitution since the meeting was peaceful.
Mudavadi with the leaders from Lamu now demand answers;
“ Musalia Mudavadi: Together with Lamu leaders here with me and the people of Lamu, we are asking President Kenyatta whether he is aware that Article 245 of the constitution is being invoked in Lamu under suspiciously arbitrary claims of orders from above “
