KRA new boss to be under pressure to hit tax targets

KRA Commissioner-General John Njiraini

As outgoing Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) boss John Njiraini term comes to end, anticipation is high on who will replace him.

The new boss who might be appointed in June when Njiraini exits will be put under immediate pressure to hit tax targets that Njiaraini never hit during his two, three-year tenure at Times Tower.

Njiraini was appointed by the the Minister of Finance Uhuru Kenyatta in 2012 and has served in two terms plus a one year extension.

In March last year, Njiraini’s term came to an end but it was extended for an undisclosed period some sources privy to the extension terms said it is ending this June.

KRA has continually missed targets straining the government’s revenue to cater for Sh2.9 trillion budget.
