Dalot was brought to Manchester United by former manager Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2018, and the Portuguese tactician had very high expectations from his fellow compatriot.

While the 19-year-old continues to adjust to life in England, he has already surpassed club captain Antonio Valencia in the pecking order, and is currently second in line for the right-back spot, behind Ashley Young.

Against Southampton, however, the versatile full-back was fielded on the right wing by interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – a position wherein he impressed heavily.

After the 3-2 win over the Saints, Dalot was asked about his preferred position on the pitch, to which he replied:

“I enjoy playing, it can be in right wing, left wing, goalkeeper, I just want to play.

“Ash is playing more right back, and the coach knows I can play in the other positions so I need to be ready for whatever he wants from me and like I said wherever I play is fine.”

Dalot also spoke about the sensation goal scored by Andreas Pereira on the night, as he revealed: “We stay at end of training to practise, three or four of us, me included. Who knows, maybe one day I can score a goal like that, today was Andreas and I’m glad he can help the team and it was very good.”

Lastly, he addressed the Red Devils’ upcoming Champions League clash against PSG, as he stated: “There is no pressure on us because we are 2-0 down.

“But, we know that in football everything is possible, in this club we have more of that because we know if we score they will be in big trouble so we want to put it like that.”
