Ruto on Friday received another political slap when his ally former Heritage and Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa was sacked.

Still his close friends in the cabinet and others at the helm of State Corprations are facing corruption related charges.

‘Sibaduki Jumwa’ is now staring at losing her Parliamentary seat after being expelled from the opposition party Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Jumwa was accused of openly showing disrespect to the party leader and insinuating she had decamped from the party and aligned herself with Deputy President William Ruto.

In the show-cause letter she received from ODM, the party says that on July 15, 2018, she is quoted by several media outlets cutting her ties with ODM. It read: “Specifically on July 15, 2018, you were quoted by several media outlets uttering the following words:

‘People should not attack me, they should attack Raila Odinga who forgot all the efforts that the Opposition had in store for Kenya and supported Jubilee administration”.”In the same meeting, you are quoted to have said: ‘I have no contract with ODM’.

The pronouncements are tantamount to a declaration of termination or intention to terminate your membership in the party”.

The National Governing Council that sealed her fate is composed of the National Executive Council, ODM League, Youth League, county coordinating committee officials and the National Election Board. The NGC is chaired by Party Leader Raila Odinga or, in his absence, either one of his deputies Wycliffe Oparanya and Hassan Joho or ODM Chairman John Mbadi.

Aisha Jumwa can appeal the party’s decision at the Political Parties Dispute’s Tribunal.
