A man in Kilifi has been arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for masquerading as a senior police officer while extorting residents.
Detectives arrested Mr Charles Odongo Olonde on Thursday after raiding his house in Kilifi.
Some of the residents said the suspect had been demanding bribes from them.
“He lied to us that he was a senior police officer and everyone in Kilifi, including the police, bought his lies,” said a resident.
“He has been living large, is always seen partying in the company of women.”
North Coast regional EACC director Gichangi Njeri said they had received complaints from the public that he was extorting money from Kilifi residents.
During the raid, the officers also seized several sim cards and identification documents from the suspect’s house.
