How can Arsenal beat Tottenham… Mesut Ozil?

Arsenal and Tottenham square off for the second time in the league this season on Saturday.

The Gunners were victorious in the reverse fixture earlier this campaign.

It is also Arsenal who head into the game in better form.

Unai Emery’s side have won four of their last five league outings, the latest of which a 5-1 hammering of Bournemouth on Wednesday.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have lost their last two league games and are all but out of the title race.

As a result of Spurs dip in form, Arsenal are now just four points behind their North London rivals and can close the gap to a point with a win on Saturday.

So, they will be desperate to pick up a win, meaning they should be playing their best eleven.

This has once again brought up the question of should Mesut Ozil be starting the big games?

Unai Emery does not appear to be a fan of the German and often leaves him on the bench or out of the matchday squad completely.

However, Ozil put on a stellar display vs Bournemouth in midweek, making a big claim to start on Saturday.

Former Arsenal star Lee Dixon has also commented on the Ozil situation. Dixon believes Ozil needs to be starting in the big games and Emery should work around his problems or there is no point in Ozil being at Arsenal.

Dixon on Ozil

When asked if Ozil should start vs Spurs, Dixon stated:

“Yes, absolutely.

“That’s what everybody wants and I’m sure he wants to be in that position, but wanting it and making it happen are two different things,” Dixon told Standard Sport.

“Is he knocking on the manager’s door, and saying ‘right I want this situation to change, what do I need to do?’ That’s what I would be doing if I was him, but it’s quite clear that we’re very different characters.

“He needs special management. If you’re not willing to do that as a group of players, and as a coach, then there’s no future for him at the club.”As quoted by the Evening Standard.
