Amid Juventus speculation, Salah on course for golden finish…

All title-winning, successful sides have a talisman; a player who steps up to the plate when required in a tight encounter or bags a delicious hat-trick in a huge top of the table clash.

Arsenal had Thierry Henry, Chelsea had Didier Drogba and, more recently, Manchester City have Sergio Aguero. Liverpool, though, have their very own ‘Egyptian Messi’ in Mohamed Salah.

Salah, who we all know by now has been nothing short of immense since his arrival at the club, is proving his doubters wrong by well and truly quashing the suggestion that he’d be a “one season wonder” and is thriving for the Reds once again this campaign. Liverpool’s talisman he certainly is.

This season the little magician, who is adored by the Kop, has recorded 17 goals in the Premier League and provided an impressive 7 assists for his Reds teammates, some of whom are also thriving this campaign alongside their invaluable colleague.

Mane has chipped in on occasions and Firmino, who provided a beautiful back-heel assist more recently against Bournemouth, has found form after a difficult spell in recent times. The Brazilian striker does need to start finding the back of the net though, as an over-reliance on Salah and his goals, plus Mane at times, is starting to emerge perhaps, but he’s more than capable of being back in the goals again soon.

Of course Manchester City and the aforementioned Sergio Aguero will be looking to pip Liverpool to the post and retain the Premier League title they won so emphatically last campaign, but they’re certainly facing more of a challenge for it this time around.

The Argentinian striker, who is without a doubt one of the best foreign imports England’s top flight has seen, is virtually mirroring Salah’s campaign with 17 goals in the league and 6 assists – just one behind the Egyptian King.

It would be clumsy not to factor in a soon to be returning Harry Kane too, with odds on the prolific England star finishing top scorer at 14/1, but by the time he’s back from injury both Salah and Aguero could be too far ahead in the scoring charts.

As for the Premier League title race, all Liverpool fans will tell you the ongoing stick they get after missing out on the title following that famous Steven Gerrard slip against Demba Ba’s Chelsea, but the determination to put that right is clearly there this campaign as their title hopes look as realistic an opportunity than ever before.

As the season enters its crucial stage, Liverpool are finding form again and so is Mohamed Salah – a man more than capable of delivering the Reds that long-awaited domestic title they so desperately crave. It’s impossible to write both Liverpool and talisman Salah off, that’s for sure.
