K’Ogalo moves second after sipping Tusker in Machakos

Gor Mahia moved to the second position on the Kenyan Premier League standings after beating Tusker Fc 1-0 in a KPL match played Wednesday at Machakos County Stadium.

The 10 man Gor scored the lone goal via Nicholas Kipkirui in the 57th minute.

The win lifted Kogallo to second place on the log with 29 points two adrift of leaders Bandari while Tusker remained 4th on 25 points.

Tuskers’ next match will be against Nzoia Sugar this Saturday while Gor travels to Algeria for their CAF Confederations Cup group ‘D’ match against Hussein Dey on Sunday.

Gor sits at the top of the group with 6 points 2 ahead of second-placed Petro Atletico of Angola while Hussein Dey and Egypt’s Zamalek are ranked third and fourth respectively.

In the meantime, Gor Mahia will leave the country Thursday evening for Algeria where they will face hosts Na Hussein Dey in a group ‘D’ CAF Confederations Cup return leg match this Sunday

Gor Mahia needs to win the match to boost their chances of making it to the quarterfinals of the continental competition.

Gor Mahia defeated Zamalek 4-2 here in Nairobi in the first leg match.

Striker Dennis Oliech who missed the first leg match against Na Hussein Dey at the Kasarani Stadium has returned to the squad.

Gor Mahia are topping the Group on six points, while Hussein Dey are tied second with Petro Atletico of Angola on four and Zamalek is last on two points.
