See How Mwala Stole the Hearts of Tanzania Women

Kenyan actor actor and radio presenter David Mwabili- popularly known as Mwala, had a hard time interacting with tens of Tanzanian women, who wanted to take selfies and engage him during an award ceremony in Dar es Salaam last Saturday.

Sinema Zetu International Film Festival (SZIFF) Awards was held at the Mlimani City Hall, where Mwala was one of the key guests.

Tanzania’s Gospel Publishers says tens of women trooped to where Mwala was seated, as they marveled at his physique and his happy-go-lucky attitude.

The highlight of the scramble-for-Mwala moment came when he had presented an award to one of the winners, and was going back to his seat, when several women followed and requested him to take selfies with each of them.

Speaking to Tanzania’s Motomoto show, the shocked-yet-thrilled actor said he did not know he was that popular in the country.

“Honestly, I underestimated my fanbase in Tanzania. What happened in Mlimani City gives me a lot of joy. I realised I couldn’t rebuff the women. So, I let loose and mingled with them,” said Mwala.
