Former Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has lashed out at Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed over her move to raise University Education fees by 200%.
Speaking during NTV’s AM Live show, Khalwale told CS Amina to stop carrying on her experiments wioth the lives of Kenyan youths.
The Ford Kenya Deputy Party leader said Amina and her Education ministry cannot just raise the fees by 200%. He said the move was going to result in 99% of the Children of the poor dropping out of the University.
“I want to tell Education CS Amina Mohamed to stop experimenting with the lives of our youth. They cannot raise universities’ fees by 200%. It is going to result in 99% of the children of the poor dropping out of university,” Khalwale posed.
On Monday, University Students threatened to hold a national strike to protest the move.
While addressing the media outside Times Towers, the University Students leaders also protested the move by the government to punish the defaulters of the HELB loans.
