Stop using poor souls to achieve cheap publicity – Khalwale told

Kenyans have seen it lots of times in the past few months Viral tales of people who’ve encountered a person in distress, helped them (which is lovely) but before leaving, snapped a shareable selfie. Some try to disguise it, by telling a long story of how much the homeless/vulnerable person taught them.

Here’s a picture of me giving my shoes to a homeless person…he’s shown me what life is really about.

Here’s a photo of us at a soup kitchen..we’ve learned so much from the wisdom of the people we’re serving.

Bonny Khalwale found himself in a situation similar to the same when he posted a photo online of a young boy he found hawking bananas on the gate of a church to raise money for his school fees and uniform.

In his post Bonny Khalwale alleges he bought the boy uniform plus gave him school shoes, blessed him to grow to become a doctor.

Our people earn a dignified although not so princely living. I met this nice boy today hawking ripe bananas at the church gate to raise money for school uniform. I bought him the uniform plus school shoes en blessed him to grow to become a doctor pic.twitter.com/zHkyItFuHu— Boni Khalwale (@KBonimtetezi) February 24, 2019

Kenyans saw it as a good move but at the same time questioned the motive

Here are a few comment:

It’s distressing if you have not yet discovered what you should have done this late! That should be a norm or work to improve people’s lives so they feed themselves!— 🇰🇪Masculine Soul ~ {E = M C ² } (@e__wambua) February 25, 2019

You did the right thing although you didn’t need to publicise… Tenda wema nenda zako..— Oscar Ouma Jarusinga (@Oscarjakaswanga) February 24, 2019

I wish you just did that, which is commendable, but didn’t have to parade him & broadcast your noble action to all and sundry. But all said and done, may God Bless you.
