Nairobi: Missing depressed nurse found with toxic poisoning in her blood

Police and family of an AMREF nurse are still trying to figure out how the reportedly missing woman whom is based in Nairobi travelled to Mombasa from Nairobi where she was found.

Details emerging from the hospital reveal that she brought on Saturday morning by police officers to the hospital after a Good Samaritan reported the matter to them.

According to CPGH chief administrator Iqbal Khandwala, preliminary assessment revealed that there might be infection in her blood which the patient is being treated for.

“She will need to go for toxicology assessment to find out if she was intoxicated or poisoned. Currently, her condition is improving but she has not been able to speak,” said Dr Khandwala.

“When we got here we found her unconscious and we took her to Jocham Hospital for scanning where she was found to be okay. [Then we returned] her to CPGH,” said Mr Chombo.

Before Ms Margaret Kilelu’s disappearance, the family said that she had been hospitalised at Kenyatta National Hospital with a depression-related illness.

She disappeared on Thursday at Tena Estate in Nairobi.
