Khalwale buys school uniform for Poor Kakamega boy but Kenyans are not happy

There is a saying about helping the poor. They say when you go to help the poor, you should leave your camera at home.

If you take a picture of yourself helping the poor, then you’re showing off and not necessarily helping out.

And former Kakamega politician has been reminded of this saying after he posted a picture of himself with a boy he had allegedly bought school uniform and a pair of shoes.

According to Khalwale, the boy was hawking bananas at the gate of church in Shinyalu, Kakamega county, to raise money for his uniform when the former senator came to his rescue.

Our people earn a dignified although not so princely living. I met this nice boy today hawking ripe bananas at the church gate to raise money for school uniform. I bought him the uniform plus school shoes en blessed him to grow to become a doctor pic.twitter.com/zHkyItFuHuβ€” Boni Khalwale (@KBonimtetezi) February 24, 2019

But even though, his supporters congratulated him for helping out, one tweet stood out from the rest.

Its better to leave the camera aside when helping the poor.β€” Dr. HansπŸ‡°πŸ‡ͺ (@hanss_official) February 24, 2019

We hope our politicians will learn a lesson or two from this.
