One of the most hotly anticipated Premier League games of the season will be played out this weekend as Liverpool travel to Manchester United in a game that could go a long way to deciding where the Premier League title ends up in May. Many United fans will be hoping they can put a spanner in the works of Liverpool’s title charge as the Reds are still yet to win a league title in the Premier League era.

However, one man seems to have his eyes set on firing Liverpool to success, with 17 goals already in the Premier League this season. Mo Salah could be scooping the Golden Boot at the end of the season, but he has his eyes on the league, with Liverpool locked in battle with Manchester City heading into the closing stages of the season.

Salah could make history if he does manage to bag against United on Sunday however, becoming the fastest player to score 50 Premier League goals for a single club. He needs just one goal to reach the target after an astonishing 32 goals in his first Premier League season.

Combine that with the 17 goals he has slotted in this season and that puts him just one goal away from the milestone, which he will have take just 63 games to complete, if he scores on Sunday.

That means he will beat the current record held by the great Alan Shearer, who got his 50 for Blackburn Rovers after just 66 games. Ruud Van Nistelrooy managed 50 in 68 for Manchester United whilst more recently, Fernando Torres took 72 games for Liverpool with Aguero taking 81 games for Manchester City.

It really does show how phenomenal Mo Salah has been since he joined Liverpool from Roma 18 months ago. For a player who has played most of his games from the right-wing, this goalscoring record would be nothing short of sensational.
