Pressure! Manchester United fans take firm position on Solskjaer’s future

Ed Woodward has been told to make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Manchester United‘s manager on a full-time basis if the Reds beat Liverpool on Sunday.

United can consolidate their place in the top four and put a dent in Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes with a win at Old Trafford this weekend.

Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial are in contention to return against Jurgen Klopp’s side after coming off against PSG last week and missing Monday’s FA Cup win over Chelsea.

A win for United will see them end the weekend in fourth place regardless of how Arsenal do against Southampton and fans believe another high-profile victory should be enough for Solskjaer to land the job permanently.

In an MEN poll conducted on Thursday 64 per cent of supporters said United should announce Solskjaer as their next permanent manager if the team beat Liverpool this weekend.

The remaining 36 per cent don’t believe a United win over Liverpool should be enough for Solskjaer to land the job on a full-time basis.

This weekend represents the first opportunity for  to pit his wits against Klopp and Liverpool’s manager has piled the praise on the Norwegian ahead of the game.

“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is doing a brilliant job, it’s all about bringing out the potential, improving the quality and that’s what he obviously did and that makes him a manager for a top club and that’s how it is,” Klopp told Sky Sports. “I’m not surprised by that.

“I didn’t know him. I met him I think one time last year in a training camp in La Manga where he was with his Norwegian team. We had a little chat, [he is a] nice fellow, that’s for sure. I only knew him as a player but what he’s done so far is obviously brilliant.”
