Duale to write to CJ Maraga seeking clarity over the hijab ruling

The leaders of Majority at the National Assembly Hon Aden Duale has declared to write to Supreme court President David Maraga seeking a clear interpretation of the hijabs following the courts ruling in January 2019.

While speaking during a a muslim leaders meeting at Nairobi Hotel Duale
said the hijab ruling has caused confusion.

“As a matter of urgency, I am going to write to the CJ and Attorney General to get a clear interpretation on the hijab ruling,” he said.

He further claimed that some schools are rejecting Muslim students based on their hijab dressing.

He further assured Muslims the constitution guarantees their right and freedom to religion.

He maintained that hijab is a serious religious practice among Muslims and not fashion as some critics are debating.

The ruling by the apex court has been interpreted to mean that schools will decide on whether to allow wearing of hijabs or not.

The ruling elicited anger among Muslim leaders and politicians who accused the Supreme court of allegedly discriminating on Islam religious practices.
