WAKWENDE!! Why Nairobi Residents Sent entire Police Station Packing

All police officers attached to Shauri Moyo Police Station, Nairobi were Wednesday moved over various complaints from the public and crime surge.

They were moved and ordered to leave to their new stations by February 27. This follows complaints of harassment by the public and crime surge in the area.

Killed, attempted cover-up

A new team has been moved to take over the vacancies. Officials explained the move by Deputy Inspector General of Police Njoroge Mbugua followed an incident in which a civilian was shot and seriously injured in a mistaken identity in the area.

Officers on the ground allegedly tried to cover up the incident saying the victim had tried to rob a female officer of her gun.

Widespread complaints

There have also been complaints from locals some officers at the station harass and extort money from them.

Meanwhile, four County Commissioners were moved in changes announced by Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

Kajiado County Commissioner David Kipkemei was moved to the Office of the President, Harambee House to wait new assignments.

He was replaced by Nakuru’s Joshua Nkanatha while Trans Nzoia’s Erastus Mbui was named the new Nakuru County Commissioner.
