Residents in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi ‘command’ the entire police station transfer

Residents in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi were forced to intervene on the rampant insecurity cases in the area after observing malice on the part of officers designated to protect them.

All police officers manning Shauri Moyo Police Station, Nairobi were on Wednesday transferred over persistent harassment complaints from the public and crime surge.

According to a statement, the affected officers were ordered to leave the station with immediate effect and report to their new stations by February 27.

A new team has since been moved to take over the roles.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police Njoroge Mbugua ordered for the changes after a civilian in Shauri Moyo was shot and seriously injured in a mistaken identity.

Shockingly, the officers on the ground allegedly tried to cover up the incident reporting that the victim had tried to rob a female officer of her gun.

There have also been accusations from locals that some officers at the station harass and extort money from them.
