PANIC As Kisumu-bound planes Turn Mid-Air, Head back to Nairobi

Passengers aboard two flights from Nairobi to Kisumu were shocked when a plane they took from Nairobi to Kisumu went back to the capital.

The planes that flew from Nairobi were immediately recalled and redirected mid-air, as perplexed passengers watched in anxiety.

Airport officials said the schedules of Fly 540 and Jambo Jet flights were affected and planes diverted to Nairobi.

Unfavourable weather

Contacted, Kisumu International Airport Manager Selina Gor referred a journalist to Mr Charles Chetalam, an airport official, who confirmed that unfavourable weather in Kisumu affected the two flights.

The planes which were due to land in minutes received an order of poor weather. Within seconds, passengers were shocked to see the planes taking off higher into the skies back to Nairobi.

“They (flights) had to be redirected back to Nairobi. They later returned and landed safely at the Kisumu International Airport when the weather was favourable,” Mr Chetalam said.

8pm to 10pm

A passenger traveling by Fly 540 said they were to land in Kisumu by 8pm on Tuesday but could not due to bad weather.
