Kisumu MCAs fight

It was fistfights heavy exchange of blows at the Kisumu County Assembly on Tuesday (19th Feb) evening as a segment of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) got entrapped in an ugly conflict.

Inconveniences began after a segment of MCAs got news that Kolwa East MCA Steve Owiti had been ‘expelled’ from his seat as Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, and su an in his place, Central Kisumu MCA Judith Atieno Ogaga.

Majority leader Kenneth Onyango said the move was unprocedural as she was confirmed without decisions having been done by the spending advisory group.

“We got in the order paper that one of the Members of the budget committee one honourable Judith Ogaga was to be sworn in. She is being sworn in without elections having been carried out by the budget committee,” lamented Onyango

“She is being sworn in without giving the chair of the budget committee an opportunity to defend himself for whatever ills he may have committed. We feel this is unprocedural and we cannot continue along this direction forever,” added Onyango.

MCA Ogaga was at long last sworn in after issues chilled off.

“We cannot approve a wallowing Shs 200 million to be used in constructing the Speaker’s official residence. We also refused to allocate a wallowing Shs 800 million to be used in building an assembly,” he said
